Our Family Legacy
At the heart of our business is a century-old legacy of craftsmanship, integrity, and a passion for fine jewelry. Since 1906, the Stinson family has been dedicated to the art of diamond setting, goldsmithing, and manufacturing, passing down a tradition of excellence through generations.
First Generation
JAMES ARTHUR STINSON began his jewelry career in 1906 when he went to work for Stinson Brothers in Decatur, Alabama, where he learned to repair watches. Over the years, he gained a wealth of knowledge about the jewelry business, and with continued training, he improved his service quality and expertise, allowing him to own and operate jewelry stores in Scottsboro and Huntsville, Alabama; Los Angeles and Anaheim, California; and Decherd, Tennessee. His son followed in his footsteps.
Second Generation
JAMES ALBERT STINSON took an interest in the business, establishing a tradition of excellence that would remain for generations to come. Albert learned the intricacies of watch repair from his father. He learned to engrave on his own, teaching himself from a book that he found in a garbage can. It was Albert's hard work and dedication that secured him a full-time position at Shire Jewelry Company in Nashville, Tennessee, at the young age of 17. During World War II, Albert worked as a watch inspector for the railroad. After the war, he went into business for himself, becoming an expert jeweler and diamond setter, as well as a talented designer, and owned three stores in the Middle Tennessee area. His son followed in his footsteps.
Third Generation
MOODY STINSON continued to uphold the same high standards of business set by his father and grandfather, carrying on the same tradition of quality, craftsmanship, and dependability. Moody and his wife, Judy, owned and operated Diamond Jewelry Inc. in downtown McMinnville. Since 1960, they have been dedicated to providing their customers with the best possible products and services. Their three sons have followed the family tradition, learning their craft from their father and becoming expert diamond setters and goldsmiths.

SHAWN STINSON opened National Diamond in 1997.
The family tradition lives on as the values never change.
